First Words

Leisa has said her first word, and guess what? Its’…Mama! At first we thought she was just saying it but not really meaning it and just exploring her voice but then she started saying it when she wakes up from her naps or whenever she wants me to come get her. Of course I am thrilled! I always thought she would say Dada first. But hey, I deserve it. After all I was the one that gave birth to her so she better say my name first. It is so exciting, but she is definitely growing up too fast. At the rate she is going she will be taller than me before she is a year old. She got to wear her first winter outfit today (the one she is wearing in the picture). After the hurricane blew through so did our first cold front. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and took Leisa for a walk so she could experience it for the first time. She loved it, although her little nose and cheeks got rosy after a while, so we had to call it a night. Hopefully we will be seeing more of this weather soon. We take her to the doctor this Friday to get her third round of shots (Yuk!) and see how much the little meatball has grown. Anyone want to gamble on that one?

Turkey Anyone?

She is the perfect size Butterball. Nice and plump all around. And around she goes. Now that the little rollie pollie knows how to roll over, she has become an expert at it. She rolls herself back and forth, back and forth. It makes me dizzy just watching her. I put her in her crib a certain way at night and by morning time she is all over the place. I’m still not too sure how she gets herself into some of those positions…hmmm. Before we know it she will be crawling, and then we are really in trouble. I have officially spoiled her, so her daddy says. She is developing her little personality and shyness and she doesn’t like to leave mommy’s hip. She is not too fond of men, but that is just smart on her part. Most men make her cry, but why should we be surprised? HA HA! Her daddy says I need to have her around other people more often, so we have a plan to do just that. Leisa and I have joined the “Lollipop League”, and I am the Chapter Leader for babies her age born in 2005. The Lollipop League is basically one big playgroup where children are grouped together by their age and community. I am in charge of planning events for us to all get together and have some fun. This way it gets us out of the house and Leisa gets to make some new friends. We are already having fun going to story time at the Library. She has so much fun! Speaking of fun, we went with Grandma Carmen to her company picnic this weekend so her grandma could show her off. Leisa loves being outside so it was exciting for her. Her boyfriend Jet was there. He is the son of one of the guys grandma works with and she decided to play matchmaker. I am not too sure it went over so well. He picked his nose (typical man) and I think Leisa lost interest…I don’t blame her:(~ I think she is going to keep her options open…Next!

Splish Splash!

We decided to introduce Leisa to the pool this week and she loved it! She wasn’t so sure at first because the water was cold, but once she got used to it, she had a blast. To add to that, she is doing all sorts of new things this week. Unfortunately for our ears she has discovered her voice, and this time she means business! Screaming is on the menu this week and it is all she is serving up. Now that she has learned she can do it, she does it all day long. We tell her she is practicing for her future career as an opera singer. (Wouldn't her daddy love that!) So you wont hear any complaints from us as long as it is all in good fun. When it turns into a temper tantrum then we may need to have a little talk with the angel. For now we will sit back and enjoy the show. On another note, the “I want that” has begun. I can’t take a drink of water without her grabbing for my cup and opening her mouth for some. She knows what she wants and she is quickly learning how to get it. Looks like we may be introducing the sippy cup soon. I can’t believe we are there already:( And ladies watch the hair; she’s a puller. And might I add, those arms may look like they are packing a lot of fat, but there is an awfully lot of muscle in there too. I have had a few too many run-ins with this already. That will teach me to leave the hair down. Now I know why so many new moms end up cutting their hair off. Sounds pretty good right about now. Well, that’s about it for now, keep your hats on till next time:)
